General information

The island on Cyprus is divided to the (Greek Cypriot) Republic of Cyprus in the south part of the island and to the (Turkish Cypriot) TRNC: Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the north. Famagusta is in TRNC. However, the border between the South and the North of the island is transparent. Additional information about airports and travel can be seen in our Transportation page. To arrange a taxi you may contact to the organizers of the conference (e.g., from/to Larnaca by filling the form).

For visitors of most countries no visa is required to enter into TRNC. Just to clarify, click visa regulations to learn more about visa requirements to visit North Cyprus.

Turkish lira that is coded as TRY is official currency used in North Cyprus. As of 1st July 2023 the exchange rate of EUR (Euro), USD (US dollar) and GBP (British pound) to TRY, are 28.4, 26.0 and 33.1, respectively. You can use currency converter to see the actual exchange rates at the present time. Majority of the cars on the island of Cyprus are manufactured with steering wheels on the rightsince traffic moves on the left (“island-style" driving).

Electrical plug/outlet and voltage information for North Cyprus

Electrical sockets (outlets) in North Cyprus supply electricity at between 220 and 240 volts AC, and are the “Type G" British BS-1363 type.  If your appliance's plug doesn't match the shape of these sockets (3-pin plug is required), you will need a travel plug adapter in order to plug in. Travel plug adapters simply change the shape of your appliance's plug to 3-pin shape suitable for aforedescribed socket type. Adapters can be bought in many supermarkets here (costs approx. 3-5 Euro).
